NYS certified MBE

A certified MBE copier dealer for purchases that need to count

New York Business Systems is a New York State certified Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE) selling and servicing Konica Minolta, Canon and Kyocera copiers. Meet your MWBE participation goals with equipment you already need.

Certified by Empire State DevelopmentKonica Minolta & Canon NYS contractsSince 1985

A New York State certified MBE copier dealer

New York Business Systems is an MBE certified by New York State through Empire State Development’s Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development.

For a purchasing office, that means the copiers, printers, service and supplies you already have to buy can also count toward your MWBE participation goal. You get a Konica Minolta, Canon or Kyocera copier from a full-service dealer that has been in business since 1985, and the spend helps you meet your utilization numbers.

Certification is what makes it count. A minority-owned business that isn’t certified by New York State doesn’t apply toward state participation goals. Our certification is listed in the state’s MWBE directory as New York Business Systems (Tam Business DBA New York Business Systems), file ID 4900, awarded April 12, 2023 and valid through April 12, 2028. We send the certificate and documentation the same day you ask.

What you can buy from us

Everything we sell and service is office and print equipment, the kind of purchase most organizations make every few years and pay for every month.

  • Copiers and printers: Konica Minolta bizhub, Canon imageFORCE and Kyocera TASKalfa, color and black-and-white models from small offices to print rooms.
  • Production printing: Konica Minolta AccurioPress and AccurioPrint presses for in-house print shops and reprographics.
  • Service agreements: cost-per-page maintenance with parts, labor and toner, serviced by NYBS technicians.
  • Toner and supplies, with connected machines reporting toner levels to our supplies team.
  • Delivery, installation, network setup and staff training.

Because we sell three manufacturers, one certified vendor can cover a whole fleet, including a mix of brands.

Who works with an MBE copier dealer

  • State agencies, authorities and SUNY and CUNY campuses with participation goals under Executive Law Article 15-A.
  • Nonprofits funded through state contracts and grants, whose agreements often carry MWBE utilization goals of their own.
  • Prime contractors on state work who need certified firms for equipment, supplies or services in their utilization plans.
  • School districts, municipalities, hospitals and colleges with their own supplier-diversity commitments.
  • Companies with supplier-diversity programs that track spending with minority-owned businesses.

The New York State rules, in brief

A short guide for purchasing staff. Your agency’s procurement office and the solicitation itself are the final word.

When participation goals apply

Under Article 15-A and its regulations, state contracts over $25,000 for services, labor, equipment or materials, and over $100,000 for real property renovation and construction, are reviewed for MWBE participation goals. Goals show up in the solicitation, in the award documents, and again at renewal.

Buying directly from a certified MWBE

New York’s discretionary purchasing guidelines let state agencies buy commodities and services from a certified MWBE up to $1,500,000 without a formal competitive bid, when the item isn’t available from preferred sources or OGS centralized contracts. The agency still documents why it chose the vendor and that the price is reasonable. Purchases over $50,000 also need a Contract Reporter advertisement, a written quote and Comptroller approval, and repeat purchases from one vendor are added together over twelve months.

State contracts and a certified MBE, together

NYBS is a certified MBE contractor on Konica Minolta’s New York State contract PT-66607 for printing and imaging equipment, and a Canon New York State contract dealer. If the equipment you need is on an OGS centralized contract, you can buy it from us on the contract and still work with a certified MBE.
